About the Event

Join us on this Easter Sunday morning hike, exploring some historical features of Holcombe Moor. Finishing with entrance to climb Peel Tower.

This hike is around 5 miles in distance with a fair amount of elevation. Like all our events, however, there's always a community feel and a sense of collective enjoyment in hiking across the moors and hills, pausing as we do to take in the sights - And plenty of photos too!

And, of course, all the proceeds go towards funding our Youth Programmes and Community Activities.

Please read the following before signing up:

Dogs are welcome: However please keep them on a lead no more than 2m in length at all times.

Please note that between the months of March and September this is a legal requirement due to ground-nesting birds on the moors.

The route: Around 5 miles in length and typically involves around 200m / 650 feet of ascent, some of which may be considered steep. The route encompasses a variety of footpath and bridleway, both rocky and muddy, and moorland which can be wet and boggy.

The Sunnywood Project strives to be a Leave No Trace  organisation: We ask that, as best we can, we leave only footprints. Do not drop any litter – anyone caught doing so will not be welcome back on a Sunnywood Project event.

Start time and duration: We will aim to set off at 8:30am. The event typically takes 2hrs to 2hrs 30mins depending on pace and enjoyment – As this is a supportive, group event accommodating a range of abilities, please consider the latest time advertised if making plans after the event.

Meeting Point:

Lumb Carr Rd Car Park, Holcombe, Bury BL8 4NN

OS Grid: SD 78149 16224, W3W: mess.bagpipes.blank, https://w3w.co/mess.bagpipes.blank

Car parking is available and free, however we encourage car-sharing where possible for the sake of the local community and the environment.
